National law firm Polsinelli Shughart welcomes attorney Joshua M. Weaver to practice health care law in the firm’s Dallas office. Weaver advises hospital systems, health care providers and physicians on corporate, compliance and regulatory matters in the evolving landscape of health law. Weaver’s addition expands the health care capabilities of the firm in Texas after opening an office in Dallas one year ago.

“Polsinelli Shughart allows me to work with premier health care lawyers and clients,” said Weaver. “I’m excited to be joining a nationally recognized health care practice with a national platform.”

Weaver joins one of the largest health care practices in the nation which includes more than 85 attorneys in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Washington D.C. Polsinelli Shughart recently was ranked as the nation’s sixth largest health care law firm by Modern Healthcare magazine.

“Josh is a great addition to our robust national health care team,” said Matt Murer, chair of the Polsinelli Shughart Health Care Practice. “Dallas is an important health care market and a key part of our firm’s overall strategic growth plan. We are excited to have Josh on board.”

Weaver has represented hospitals, surgery centers, physicians and other health care providers in health care transactional and compliance-related matters, including structuring a wide variety of hospital-physician arrangements such as physician-owned hospitals, physician employment agreements, physician recruitment agreements and advising clients on various other joint venture arrangements. Weaver also advises clients on various reimbursement-related issues.

Weaver earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, cum laude, in 2004, and earned his B.B.A in Finance from Southern Methodist University, cum laude, in 2001. He is admitted to the bars of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Texas, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas and U.S. District of Court, Western District. Weaver is a member of the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. He was selected for inclusion in Texas Super Lawyers – Rising Star Edition, in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The Dallas office relocated to Saint Ann Court in March after opening an office last year. The office originated with three attorneys bringing corporate, health care and private equity capabilities to the firm in Texas. The firm’s office in Saint Ann Court has accommodations for 38 attorneys and staff. Currently, there are 12.

While the addition of a Dallas office is new for the firm, Polsinelli Shughart has a prior Texas connection. Former Dallas Congressman Martin Frost is a shareholder in the Washington, D.C. office of Polsinelli Shughart. Frost represented the Dallas-Ft. Worth area in the U.S. House of Representatives for 26 years (1979-2005) prior to joining the firm. During his time in Congress, Frost served as chairman of the House Democratic Caucus (the third ranking leadership position for House Democrats) and was dean of the Texas delegation in his last several terms in Congress.
