Akin Gump helped McLean, Virginia-based Mars, Incorporated move towards carbon neutral operations by advising the company in its agreement with Sumitomo Corporation of America on a new 200-megawatt wind farm.
The Mesquite Creek Wind farm, which will have 118 turbines, was jointly developed by Sumitomo and BNB Renewable Energy. Located near Lamesa, Texas, and with a footprint of 25,000 acres, Mesquite Creek represents the biggest long-term commitment to renewable energy use of any food manufacturing business in the United States.
