Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. is expanding its energy and industrial practices with the addition of five lawyers from internationally recognized Cogan & Partners LLP. This combination will enable Stone Pigman to better serve clients in the project development and natural resources sectors, and will establish a Houston office for Stone Pigman. John P. Cogan, Jr. and Michael Anthony Nunes joined Stone Pigman as Members, and John P. Cogan III, Carlos A. Morán and James A. Cogan joined as Special Counsel.

John P. Cogan, Jr. is a stalwart of the energy industry. He has extensive experience with foreign and domestic energy matters and major industrial projects. During his career, he has served as lead counsel on numerous LNG and pipeline projects, upstream and refinery acquisitions, onshore and offshore oil field services and acquisitions and dispositions of oceangoing vessel fleets. His practice spans the globe with projects in North America, Latin America, East Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

Michael Anthony “Tony” Nunes focuses his practice on international projects, finance and corporate and maritime transactions, with an emphasis on energy-related matters. He has significant experience advising on the purchase, sale, financing and chartering of LNG tankers, offshore drilling rigs, barges and other shipping matters, including the drafting and negotiating of bareboat charters, O&M agreements and other ancillary documents in connection with floating production storage and offloading vessels.

John P. Cogan III concentrates his practice on the internet industry as well as renewable energy and oil & gas transactions. He has co-founded and served as General Counsel to several start-up companies, including One Box, Seven Networks, Inc. and Lala Media.

Carlos A. Morán is a Mexican licensed attorney who specializes in energy, infrastructure and natural resources projects in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. He has counseled clients in major transactions involving mergers and acquisitions, offshore energy projects, government procurement procedures for the construction of port, airport, security and oil & gas infrastructure, commodities trade finance and mining projects.

James A. Cogan concentrates his practice on international and domestic corporate transactions and projects in the energy sector. He has served as counsel to E&P and oilfield service companies, pipeline and marine transportation companies, LNG regasification and liquefaction operators, and traders and retailers of crude oil, natural gas, LNG and refined petroleum products.
