Haynes and Boone’s appellate attorneys persuaded the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse a $25.5 million jury award tried in Houston, but revolving around a real estate deal in New England.

In an opinion issued Sept. 28, Houston-based partners Lynne Liberato and Kent Rutter led the Haynes and Boone team, which also included associates Christina Crozier and Polly Graham. In LHC Nashua Partnership v. PDNED Sagamore Nashua, they represented a real estate developer, successfully convincing the court to vacate the award for alleged lost profits arising out of a contract concerning the transfer of rights to purchase shopping mall property.

The victory was one of the biggest appellate wins in Texas during 2011, reversing a 2010 decision that was recognized by Verdict Search as one of the publication’s Top 100 Verdicts for the year.
