Winstead PC is pleased to announce the addition of Rebecca J. Rentz as of counsel in the energy & environmental law practice group. Formerly with Bracewell & Giuliani LLP, Rentz brings over a decade of valued environmental law experience to Winstead’s Houston office. Her focus is on state and federal air quality matters including enforcement, permitting, regulatory proposals, and corporate transactions.

Rentz gained unique experience at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) serving in the dual capacity as legal counsel to the executive director and Houston Air Quality Director. At TCEQ, she handled regulatory matters including permitting, investigation and enforcement of regulated entities in the Harris County region.

Rentz’s most recent leadership role was at the American Waste and Management Association (AWMA), where she served as chair of the Gulf Coast Chapter in 2010. Rentz has been named a Texas Rising Star in Environmental Law, and in 2007, the Texas Association of Environmental Professionals honored her as the Environmental Regulator of the Year. She received her J.D. at the University of Houston Law Center, where she was a member of the Order of the Barristers and an avid participant of Moot Court Competitions in Environmental Law.

Prior environmental expertise also includes serving as Environmental Policy Director for then Harris County Judge Robert Eckels where she worked on Clean Air Act Ozone planning for the Harris County Region.
