Veteran Dallas business trial attorneys Ladd Hirsch and John Tancabel join Winstead’s Business Litigation Practice Group as a shareholders in the Dallas office. The duo brings a well-established Business Divorce practice to the firm.

Ladd Hirsch is a 35-year go-to business trial lawyer in Dallas representing clients in complex business disputes in both the boardroom and the courtroom. Over the past two decades, he has focused a significant portion of his practice handling Business Divorce matters and related litigation for majority owners and minority investors in substantial private Texas companies, including prosecuting and defending claims against fiduciaries including claims for shareholder oppression, breach of fiduciary duty and shareholder derivative claims. His practice also includes assisting family law counsel on complex property and Business Divorce issues that arise in family law proceedings.

John Tancabel brings extensive knowledge of Business Divorce issues to the resolution of conflicts involving ownership disputes and management of businesses, including fiduciary duty and securities related matters. He also has significant experience with class action and multi-jurisdictional litigation.

Hirsch is a solution-oriented business trial attorney with vast experience representing both companies and high net worth clients in complex business litigation matters and arbitration proceedings. He has extensive experience handling complex business disputes, including claims for breach of contract, fraud, minority shareholder oppression, violations of fiduciary duties, breach of non-compete covenants, theft of trade secrets and business defamation.

He represents plaintiffs and defendants in business disputes in a variety of industries including, manufacturing, commercial lending and financing, construction, software, insurance, real estate, food & beverage, healthcare, retail sales and video games.

Hirsch received his J.D. from Cornell School of Law, cum laude, in 1983. He most recently practiced in the Dallas office of Diamond McCarthy LLP.

Tancabel represents businesses and individuals in complex, high-stakes disputes in state and federal court as well as arbitration. John has extensive experience with ownership disputes over the control and management of businesses, including fiduciary duty and securities related litigation. Before entering private practice, John served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Sidney A. Fitzwater, who at the time was the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Tancabel received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, summa cum laude, in 2007. He most recently practiced with Diamond McCarthy LLP.
