Dan A. Fleckman has joined Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell’s Houston Office as a Partner in the Firm’s national Corporate and Energy Practices, effective immediately. Fleckman has more than 30 years of experience in all types of transactions and represents publicly held and private companies in corporate finance, governance, mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) and more.

Fleckman comes to Locke Lord from the Houston office of Mayer Brown. His depth and breadth of experience in representing energy companies in complex transactions and issuers and major investment banking firms in capital markets transactions will complement Locke Lord’s existing strengths in the Corporate and Energy practices. Fleckman will work closely with Houston’s growing Energy Finance team, which has added several new attorneys this year as business continues to grow in the energy finance arena.

Fleckman was chief legal officer and executive vice president for Regency Energy Partners and prior to that a partner at Vinson & Elkins. He has a unique portfolio of corporate and energy experience that will mesh well with Locke Lord’s team approach to business and energy transactions.

“Dan’s reputation and connections come at the perfect time, and we welcome an attorney of his stature to our team,” said Houston Office Managing Partner Ken Simon. “He knows Houston and its importance to energy deals around the globe, and he adds more depth to our strong MLP practice. His work ethic and teamwork skills are a perfect match with our Firm’s culture.”

Fleckman’s skills and experience add to the strength of Locke Lord’s Energy Finance team, which has added depth and three attorneys to its practice this year. Partner Dale D. Smith came aboard in January and focuses on finance, energy, oil and gas and real estate; Janet K. Greene, a former Fortune 500 company in-house counsel with experience in energy related syndicated financings, bond transactions, letters of credit and structured deals, joined Locke Lord as Senior Counsel in April; and Tara C. Ivascu joined as an Associate in June and focuses on commercial lending and energy transactions. The expanded Energy Finance group, led by longtime energy finance attorney Kenneth M. Anderson, works closely with Locke Lord’s national and international Energy Practice, which continues to add to its strong base in transactional, litigation and regulatory matters.

Fleckman earned his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law, graduating in the top 10 of his class and completing a Supreme Court of Texas clerkship following graduation. He earned an undergraduate degree in accounting from UT.
