Vinson & Elkins announced today that seasoned capital markets attorney Michael Telle has joined the firm in Houston as a corporate partner, further expanding its market-leading position.

“We are committed to maintaining V&E’s premier position in the highly competitive Houston market,” said V&E Chairman Mark Kelly. “We could not be happier to welcome Mike back to V&E. Mike is recognized as one of the nation’s top capital markets attorneys and is a natural leader whose engaging personality fits perfectly with our firm’s culture.”

Mike was a partner at Bracewell & Guiliani LLP, where he was head of the firm’s Capital Markets group. He has an extensive corporate and securities law practice emphasizing capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, securities law compliance and corporate governance matters.

“V&E is the gold standard for servicing the energy industry, and the opportunity to rejoin the strongest legal team in Houston was especially attractive to me,” Mike said. “The strength of the firm’s M&A and Capital Markets group, combined with the depth of its other practices, makes this an unparalleled platform for me.”

Mike has particular experience advising clients in the energy industry, including exploration and production companies, midstream companies, including master limited partnerships (MLPs), and oilfield service companies. He regularly counsels clients in initial public offerings, public and 144A offerings of debt and equity securities, tender offers and exchange offers. He also advises clients on M&A transactions and private acquisitions and dispositions.

“Mike’s broad experience advising energy companies in capital raising, M&A and strategic transactions adds to our depth and will help V&E to continue to provide the very best service for our clients on their most important and complex transactions,” said Keith Fullenweider, co-head of V&E’s M&A and Capital Markets Practice.

Mike is recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers USA 2014 and in The Legal 500 United States 2014. He began his career as an associate at Vinson & Elkins.
