The law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its Finance Practice Group with the addition of Cassandra Mott as a Partner in the Firm’s Houston office.

“Cassandra plays an integral role in the Firm’s strategy to expand our Finance Practice in the corporate and middle market lending sectors, building upon our strength in the energy finance sector,” said Shad E. Sumrow, the Firm’s Finance Practice Group Leader. “Her significant expertise on the lending issues encountered by these companies will be a tremendous asset for our Firm and our valued clients.”

Mott represents capital providers and borrowers in a broad range of finance transactions across a vast array of industries, including energy, healthcare, insurance, consumer products, and manufacturing. She has structured, negotiated, and documented senior and subordinated financing facilities of many types, including general working capital, investment-grade credit, asset-based, multijurisdictional and multicurrency, and syndicated facilities. Mott also advises energy clients on collateral support and intercreditor matters relating to hedge transactions. Her practice also includes advising clients on in-court and out-of-court debt restructurings as well as on intercreditor issues, helping to structure and negotiate transactions with multiple debt tranches and lien priorities.

Recently, she was elected president of the Houston Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, an international association of private equity professionals, investment bankers, lenders, and corporate leaders within the broadly defined middle market. She is a frequent speaker and writer on the lending issues encountered by middle market companies.

Her practice also includes working with private equity funds and their portfolio companies on leveraged buyout financings as well as with capital providers to private equity funds. Mott has worked on many transactions with companies with operations outside of the United States, including Australia, the Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, the Cayman Islands, China, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Panama, Poland, and Sweden.

Mott joins Thompson & Knight from Jones Day.
