SNR Denton announced today that Matthew Harper has joined the firm’s Dallas office as a partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology practice.

Harper’s practice focuses on patent litigation, complex commercial litigation, trade secret litigation and business counseling, primarily in the areas of telecommunications, computer hardware, processing architectures, software and the Internet. Harper has litigated cases in federal courts throughout the United States and the International Trade Commission, and counsels clients regarding patent portfolio analysis, litigation and licensing strategy, and copyright clearance.

“I am pleased to welcome Matt to the firm and to our growing Dallas office,” said Robert Hanson, head of SNR Denton’s Intellectual Property and Technology practice. “Matt’s strong technical background and expertise in patent litigation are a welcome addition to the firm’s global platform.”

Harper brings significant patent litigation experience and a strong technical background to SNR Denton’s expanding Intellectual Property and Technology practice. His undergraduate degree in engineering will complement the firm’s current bench of patent litigators and prosecutors, and he is well-placed to address post-grant review procedures emerging under the America Invents Act.

“With the emergence of the new post-grant review procedures from the US Patent and Trademark Office under the America Invents Act, IP law has been changing quickly,” said Harper. “I am happy to join a firm with a solid team of technically skilled patent lawyers and am ready to start using innovative strategies and my own technical background to immediately assist my clients with new challenges.”

Harper received his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Dayton School of Law and his B.S. in Engineering Science from Trinity University. He joins SNR Denton from Thompson & Knight.
