Texas has long been known for producing and hosting impressive attorneys and legal professionals, and recent hires by regional law firms are expanding this reputation.

Jones & Walker LLP has offices located across the United States, including two in Houston and The Woodlands. A press release reported that former U.S. representative Rick Lazio will join the firm’s New York City office as managing partner, where he will oversee all legal operations. Since the office is the first Jones & Walker branch in New York, it is an extremely high-profile position.

Hines, according to the news source. “He is devoted to the cause of affordable housing and will be a valuable contributor to our firm’s efforts in the housing finance and real estate practices. His leadership and experience in financial services will be a very valuable addition to this firm. He will also be heading our new office in New York, which is an important complement to our growth strategy as a firm.”

In other news,  former Principal Deputy Solicitor General for the State of Texas Sean D. Jordan was recently hired by Austin-based law firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP.  He was brought in to lead the firm’s appellate practice department and will bring vast civil litigation experience to the firm.
