Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that Julie Houston has joined the firm’s Public Finance practice as Counsel in Austin.

A former chair of the Public Finance practice group at Winstead PC and also previously a Texas Assistant Attorney General in the Public Finance Division, Ms. Houston focuses her practice on various aspects of traditional public finance and public/private project financing. Her clients have included various state agencies and local governmental entities, including the Texas Public Finance Authority and Texas Veterans Land Board, as well as cities, counties, municipal utility districts, housing finance corporations, school districts, junior college districts and public facility corporations.

Ms. Houston has also served as general counsel to a public facility corporation that owns and operates a convention center hotel. She has significant experience representing underwriters and financial institutions in connection with the purchase and sale of various types of tax-exempt and taxable governmental obligations.

Ms. Houston is a 1993 graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law. She earned her Master of Science in 1985 from Illinois State University after receiving her bachelor’s degree from Marian University in 1983.
