Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced today that Thomas J. Moore has joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner in the Corporate & Securities and Oil & Gas practices. Previously, he was a partner with Baker Botts in Houston.

“Tom is well-known in the energy industry for his strong experience in leading significant oil and gas transactions and projects around the world, particularly in Asia and Africa,” said Dallas Parker, leader of Mayer Brown’s Corporate & Securities practice in Houston. “His deep knowledge in representing energy companies on the acquisition of oil and gas assets and on the development of large projects, such as liquefied natural gas facilities, will further strengthen Mayer Brown’s ability to serve clients across the globe.”

Mr. Moore brings a wide range of corporate, commercial and financial experience to the energy and infrastructure industries. He has played a lead role in many major energy assignments worldwide, including liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects in the United States and Africa, petrochemical plants in the Middle East and gas fired generation facilities around the world. Mr. Moore represents Chinese and the Korean state and investor owned oil companies in acquisitions in Africa, Asia, South America and the US, and has represented a wide range of energy companies and investment funds in acquisitions and divestitures of other energy assets of all kinds.

“Mayer Brown’s impressive energy and project finance capabilities, presence in Asia and London, and cross-office, cross-practice integration are a perfect fit for the global nature of my work,” said Mr. Moore. “The oil and gas industry is increasingly integrated and global in scope, and to serve it properly, a law firm needs an integrated, global presence. I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues at Mayer Brown to further expand the firm’s capabilities in oil and gas mergers and acquisitions and project development around the world.”

Neil Wasserstrom, partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown’s Houston office, said: “Tom’s arrival further enhances Mayer Brown’s reputation as a firm focused on handling significant oil and gas matters in Houston—the hub of the global oil and gas business—and elsewhere in the US, Africa, Asia and Latin America.”
