Scott Arrington, a highly respected energy transactional lawyer, plans to join Locke Lord as a Partner in its Corporate and Transactional Department and the Energy Practice Group. Arrington, who helped launch McDermott Will & Emery’s Houston office in 2008, begins with Locke Lord Aug. 25 and will be based in the Firm’s Houston office.

Arrington has extensive experience representing clients on infrastructure development, acquisitions, dispositions, financings and transactions, with a focus on international projects in the oil and gas, petrochemical, power and mining industries. His practice also includes handling complex matters associated with wind and solar energy projects. Arrington speaks Spanish and Mandarin Chinese and has extensive cross-border experience, particularly in Latin America, Canada and Asia.

Arrington was recently involved in a number of significant energy transactions, including:
•Representing a Canadian refiner with respect to various matters, including with respect to joint venture and related project agreements for a planned crude oil marine facility to be developed in conjunction with a crude oil pipeline to be built from Alberta to Atlantic Canada.
•Representing a global financial institution with respect to inverted lease tax equity financings of solar portfolios.
•Representing a U.S. private equity firm with respect to the disposition of its interests in an ethanol facility in Trinidad and Tobago.
•Representing a U.S. provider of power and pipeline contracting services with respect to joint ventures and contracting matters, including a bid to build, own and operate a natural gas pipeline in the United States.

Arrington has been recognized by Chambers and Partners since 2005, included in The International Who’s Who of Energy Lawyers (or its predecessor) since 2010 and is included among The Best Lawyers in America®. He is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, the Institute for Energy Law and the Houston World Affairs Council.
