National construction law firm Peckar & Abramson, P.C. (P&A) is pleased to announce that litigation attorney Barry J. Brooks has joined the firm’s Dallas office as a Partner.

Brooks is a skilled litigator who focuses his practice on construction law, employment law, and general commercial litigation, with a concentration on high stakes, complex litigation matters. His clients include general contractors, real estate property owners and developers as well as business owners. Brooks’s understanding of his clients’ sensitive business interests allows him to creatively protect their resources, while assisting in avoiding and resolving litigation.

Prior to law school, Brooks worked as a civil engineer in Texas and Colorado, where he managed and designed engineering projects from preliminary feasibility through final construction for commercial, residential and ‘big box’ type developments. Most recently, he was with the law firm of McGuire, Craddock & Strother in Dallas.

Active in the community, Brooks recently served as Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Heath, Texas, Board Member and City of Heath representative to the Rockwall County Emergency Services Corporation, and the City of Heath representative to the Rockwall County Transportation Consortium. He is a member of the Construction Law Section and Labor & Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association. Further, he is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Brooks is admitted to practice before the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas. He is a 2014-2016 Texas Rising Star from Thomson Reuters published in Texas Monthly. He received his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University.
