SBBO announced that Kevin T. Schutte has joined the firm’s Dallas office as a partner. Mr. Schutte’s practice focuses on general commercial and business litigation at both the trial and appellate court levels, as well as arbitrations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Mr. Schutte becomes the third SBBO partner in three years to join the Dallas office, bolstering the firm’s growing presence in Texas. He joins John Podvin, a nationally recognized banking and financial services attorney and John Leininger, who is experienced in bankruptcy, bankruptcy related litigation, and commercial litigation matters.

While Mr. Schutte represents clients in a variety of industries, he has particular experience representing banks and other financial institutions with matters concerning mortgage banking, mortgage-backed securities (MBS) litigation, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Texas and Federal debt collection practices, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), data breach/privacy litigation, derivative shareholder disputes, and corporate fiduciary duties.

In his general commercial litigation practice, Mr. Schutte represents clients in disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, securities fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, real estate, healthcare, trademark and copyright infringements, oil and gas/mineral rights and product liability.

Earlier in his career Mr. Schutte served as the interim deputy general counsel-litigation, for a publicly traded financial institution, focusing primarily on mortgage banking.

Mr. Schutte received a B.A., Finance, magna cum laude, from Ouachita Baptist University and he is a 2001 graduate of the Baylor University School of Law.

Mr. Schutte was previously a partner in the Dallas office of an international law firm.
