Amanda J. Ellis has joined the firm’s litigation department as an associate in their Austin office. Her practice focuses primarily on Health Care Law, Administrative Law, Medical Malpractice Defense, Funeral Services Law and General Litigation.

Ms. Ellis represents pharmacists, pharmacies, nurses, and other health care providers before state and federal regulatory agencies and in litigation. She also counsels health care entities on a variety of health care issues, including contract issues, governance matters and Public Information Act requests and Election Law issues. In addition, Ms. Ellis represents licensed funeral directors and embalmers, and the owners of licensed funeral establishments, crematories, and cemeteries before the Texas Funeral Service Commission and the State Office of Administrative Hearings. She has also represented various entities and individuals before state regulatory agencies and the State Office of Administrative Hearings, including such matters before the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, the Texas Medical Board, the Texas Board of Nursing, and the Texas Funeral Service Commission. Ms. Ellis is Board Certified in Administrative Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Prior to joining Kemp Smith, Ms. Ellis was an associate with an Austin healthcare firm, where she practiced in the area of litigation along with administrative and health law, and an Assistant Attorney General in the Administrative Law Division of the Office of the Attorney General of Texas. Ms. Ellis earned a Bachelor of Arts from Austin College, Master of Arts from Texas Tech University in 2001, and J.D. from Texas Tech Law School in 2005. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Funeral Directors and the Austin Bar Association.
