Kemp Smith LLP is pleased to announce Thomas A. Forbes has rejoined the firm as a partner in the Regulatory and Public Affairs Department in Austin, TX. Mr. Forbes’ practice will focus on government affairs and regulatory issues. He represents clients before state and federal regulatory agencies, Texas Legislature, U.S. Congress, Federal Executive Branch and other state governments.

Mr. Forbes advises clients on matters before regulatory agencies and legislative bodies. He has represented major corporations, professional societies, major league sports and both foreign and state governments.

Mr. Forbes is a Director of the Austin Trust Company where he chairs the Audit Committee. He is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. He was recently appointed by the State Bar of Texas to the American Bar Association House of Delegates and is a member of the ABA’s Standing Committee on Group and Prepaid Legal Services. Previously he was a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Government Affairs, the Latin American Law Initiatives Council and the Standing Committee on Election Law. Mr. Forbes has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America and has been named a Texas Super Lawyer. He serves on the Council of the Legislative Law Section of the State Bar. Additionally, Tom was the founding President of the Travis County Children’s’ Advocacy Center, Chaired Leadership Austin and is a member of the Austin Area Research Organization. He recently completed three terms on the Board of Trustees of Southwestern University where he served as Vice Chair, and as a member of the Executive, Nominations and Institutional Advancement Committees. Mr. Forbes is a graduate of Southwestern University and Baylor School of Law.
