Jackson Walker is pleased to welcome partner Philip Svahn to the firm. Mr. Svahn joins the Corporate & Securities group in the Austin office.

Mr. Svahn focuses his practice on representing institutional investors’ investment funds in connection with alternative asset investments. His work with institutional investors includes reviewing and negotiating investment documentation, such as: limited partnership agreements, subscription agreements, management agreements, side letters, and private placement memoranda. Mr. Svahn is also experienced in investors’ internal compliance matters, co-investments, advisory board matters, fund dissolution, and secondary transactions. His experience in alternative asset investments includes private equity funds (debt/loan, buy-out, infrastructure, energy and strategic), real estate funds (core and development), separate accounts, hedge funds, fund of funds, and venture capital funds. Additionally, Mr. Svahn represents technology companies in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic alliances, as well as other general business and financial matters.

Mr. Svahn is a member of the American Bar Association — Business Law Section and Institutional Investor Committee; the State Bar of Texas — Business Law Section; and the Austin Bar Association — Corporate and Tax Section. He is also a founding fellow of the Travis County Bar Foundation and a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Mr. Svahn received his B.A. from George Washington University. He earned his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law.
