Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that experienced Houston oil and gas attorney, Shahid A. Ghauri, has joined the firm as a Partner.
Mr. Ghauri joins the Business Transactions (Oil & Gas) and Project Finance sections in the firm’s Houston office. A former petroleum engineer, Mr. Ghauri has more than 20 years of experience in the legal, financial and technical aspects of the oil and gas industry.
“Few attorneys in the country can claim Shahid’s depth of legal and financial experience in oil and gas matters,” says Bob Jewell, Managing Partner. “His unique experience and insights will be great additions to our firm and wonderful assets for our clients.”
Mr. Ghauri regularly handles mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, corporate governance and other finance issues. In addition to his corporate clients, he also represents a variety of oil and gas industry directors, committees and executives.

Mr. Ghauri earned his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center, and received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in petroleum engineering from The University of Texas.
He is a member of the State Bars of Texas and Pennsylvania, the Houston Producers’ Forum and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
