Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that noted intellectual property attorney Gregory L. Porter has joined the Houston office as a Partner.

“Greg brings a tremendous amount of real world experience and legal knowledge to every case he handles,” says Jeff Dodd, Andrews Kurth Partner and Intellectual Property Section Leader. “He will be a tremendous asset to our firm and all of our clients.”

Mr. Porter represents clients in intellectual property matters in a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, computer networking, polymers, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and biotech. He handles patent prosecution and patent licensing, and counsels clients on the creation and management of their intellectual property portfolios.

Prior to joining Andrews Kurth, Mr. Porter was a partner at Jones Day, where he helped launch that firm’s Houston IP group.

Mr. Porter earned his law degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, graduating cum laude and serving on the law review while working full-time as a chemist. He earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Indiana University.

He is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Intellectual Property Owners Association, Houston Intellectual Property Law Association and Houston Bar Association.
