Hogan Lovells announced today that John (Jay) Yates has joined the firm’s Houston office as partner in the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology (IPMT) Practice Group.

Yates represents clients in the energy, high tech, and banking industries on IP litigation, patent counseling, disputed technology, and transactional matters. Along with his emphasis on the energy sector, he also has extensive experience across several different technical areas, including electrical engineering and software.

“Jay’s unique skill set and energy-focused background will broaden our practice to address a number of growing issues in the space,” said Celine Crowson, head of Hogan Lovells’ Intellectual Property, Media, and Technology (IPMT) practice in the Americas. “His wide-ranging practice across numerous industries will provide a platform of collaboration for the firm to better serve our clients.”

Yates earned his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, M.Phil. Engineering, from University of Cambridge, and his B.A. and B.S., cum laude, in Electrical Engineering from Rice University.
