International law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced that K. Lance Anderson has joined its Austin office as of counsel in firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology practice. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Anderson served for more than 10 years as a lead intellectual property attorney for both a university system and an early stage venture capital company where he oversaw all facets of intellectual property activities and was involved in the investment, development and management of its portfolio companies.

Lance is a great addition to our Austin office and our intellectual property group,” says Darrell Windham, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Austin office. “Lance’s broad in-house experience, along with his in-depth intellectual property transaction work, makes him a great asset to help us serve our technology clients in Austin, the state of Texas and beyond.”

Anderson focuses his practice on intellectual property transactions. He has significant experience in licensing and transactional matters, including IP due diligence for licensing, mergers and acquisitions, patent brokerage and strategic planning, with particular focus on matters involving academic and research institutions. His experience also includes patent prosecution, patent litigation, trade secrets, electronic records management, R&D strategic alliances and joint ventures.

Anderson’s background and education span multiple disciplines, including biological sciences, chemistry, plant physiology and botany, genetics and environmental sciences. He also has experience handling matters related to life sciences, medical devices, consumer products, surface treatments and nanotechnology. Anderson has also been involved in many of the varied issues facing start-up and early stage companies as they grow and mature.
