Frost Brown Todd (FBT) is pleased to announce the addition of five Members to its growing team of Dallas attorneys. An Am Law 200 firm with close to 500 attorneys across its footprint, FBT arrived in Texas earlier this year and moved into The Crescent this summer as a strategic initiative to complement the firm’s existing capabilities and serve local clients. Daniel Novakov, formerly with Greenberg Traurig, leads the team as Member-in-Charge, along with Edward (Eddy) Moore, also a long-time Dallas attorney.

“As we continue to grow our Dallas team, we are excited to draw an impressive list of new members with experience across a broad range of practice areas and industries. Over the past several weeks, we have welcomed John Stephenson, George Schmidt, Stephanie Gause, Jason Cross and Kimera Hall to our office,” says Novakov.

With the Dallas office, FBT now has a footprint spanning seven states – Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

“FBT has served a number of clients with Texas operations prior to opening this office,” says FBT Chairman John Crockett. “A permanent location here allows us to meet with them more frequently in their own home market. The core of our business, regardless of location, is to develop strong relationships with our clients and a deep understanding of their businesses, objectives and challenges. Our Dallas team will do the same, with a diverse range of legal services focused on automotive, energy, health care, tax, commercial litigation and real estate law.”

Kimera J. Hall has practiced with FBT for more than 10 years and was resident in the Columbus and Indianapolis offices prior to transferring to Dallas. She represents clients in a variety of general corporate and day-to-day business matters, including commercial contract negotiation, review and drafting, with an emphasis on the supply and distribution chain. She also focuses on mergers and acquisitions, and has assisted clients in various sale, acquisition and joint venture deals. Hall’s practice spans multiple industries, including the automotive and food & beverage industries. Hall also has experience with the licensing and protection of intellectual property, including trademarks and copyrights.

Jason Cross is a litigator with more than a decade of experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial disputes in state and federal courts, and in all stages of the litigation and dispute resolution process. In addition to his experience in front of courts in Texas and throughout the United States, Cross has represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations under the rules of some of the world’s leading arbitral institutions. Prior to joining FBT, he practiced in the Dallas office of the international law firm Jones Day.

Stephanie K. Gause joins the firm from Bell Nunnally and counsels clients in a range of real estate and corporate transactions, including acquisition and sale of real property, office and retail leasing, commercial lending and real estate finance, and asset purchases and dispositions. Her clients include multinational companies, buyers and sellers of office, retail and land development projects, landlords and tenants, and high net worth individuals.

George A. Schmidt focuses his practice on contract negotiation, preparation and review, corporate governance matters, and transaction documentation, diligence and review. He works with clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and a range of real estate transactions, including financing and shopping center/retail development. Schmidt is transferring to Dallas from the Columbus, Ohio, office of FBT. He joined the firm earlier in the year from Glimcher Realty Trust, one of the nation’s premier retail Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), where for the past 19 years he served in various capacities, including General Counsel and Chief Investment Officer.

John M. Stephenson has spent more than 35 years representing clients in cross-border business and financial transactions. He has worked with clients around the world to analyze, structure and close both inbound and outbound investments, and has assisted in a broad range of arrangements relating to corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and licensing, among others. Stephenson also has extensive experience working with domestic and foreign companies in the financing of international energy projects on most of the world’s continents.
