McGlinchey Stafford PLLC is pleased to announce the addition of Monica S. Thompson as Of Counsel in its Consumer Financial Services group in the firm’s Dallas office.

Thompson has extensive experience in the consumer finance industry and joins McGlinchey Stafford following nearly 10 years of service within the legal department of Bank of America. She most recently served as Assistant General Counsel, a role in which she provided guidance and comprehensive legal advice, managed outside counsel, and oversaw risk and compliance programs, ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations and regulatory Consent Orders. Thompson joined Bank of America in 2006 as Senior Counsel and was named Assistant General Counsel in 2007.

“We’ve worked with Monica for several years as a client, and she is already well-known and highly regarded within our firm,” said Bennet Koren, who chairs McGlinchey Stafford’s Consumer Financial Services group. “Her experience and knowledge are well-aligned with our group’s work for financial industry clients, and she is a wonderful asset to our nationally recognized team and our client base. It’s a pleasure to welcome Monica to the firm.”

In addition to her experience within Bank of America, Thompson served as Senior Counsel and Compliance Officer for Concorde Acceptance Corporation, a Texas-based originator of residential mortgage loans, from 2003–2006. She has also spent time in private practice representing clients in real estate matters such as the acquisition and disposition of multimillion-dollar commercial and industrial properties and drafting complex agreements and leases for commercial tenants in shopping centers, office buildings, and industrial parks. Thompson has worked within other banks and loan servicing companies dating to the mid-1990s. She served as an attorney for the government-run Resolution Trust Corporation from 1993–1996.

“We are looking forward to working more closely with Monica and are excited to have an attorney with her level of skill and experience as part of our Dallas office,” said Burton Brillhart, a Consumer Financial Services attorney and Member in the firm’s Dallas office. “She adds depth to our Consumer Financial Services group, allowing us to more effectively serve banks, loan servicers, and other financial services industry clients nationwide.”
