National law firm Wilson Elser announced today that five attorneys from Schell Cooley LLP ‒ partners Jennifer Martin and Lisa Wilson, along with Stephani Johnson and Jennifer Murphy, of counsel, and Michael Rose, associate ‒ have joined the firm’s Dallas office.

“This group is an excellent addition to the firm,” said Stratton Horres, regional managing partner of Wilson Elser’s Dallas office and the partner in charge of lateral hiring nationally. “Jennifer Martin’s group bolsters our insurance coverage practice adding a focus on first-party claims to our established practice in representing clients on matters related to third-party claims. Additionally, Lisa and Stephani have established reputations in other key firm practices, including medical malpractice.”

Jennifer Martin’s team, which includes Wilson, Murphy and Rose, is focused on insurance coverage matters, primarily first-party property and casualty insurance litigation and related appellate work. They advise national insurance carriers regarding a broad range of matters, including complex coverage questions, claims handling issues, and allegations of statutory violations and bad faith.

Martin has significant experience litigating and negotiating commercial and personal lines insurance coverage and bad faith disputes. She has successfully litigated cases in state and federal courts throughout Texas and surrounding areas.

Martin earned her J.D. degree from Baylor Law School (1995). She was senior notes & comments editor with the Baylor Law Review and received the Patton, Haltom, Roberts, McWilliams & Greer Law Review Award.

Stephani Johnson handles a broad range of cases, including medical malpractice, premises and product liability, and trucking defense. She has practiced as a trial lawyer for more than 20 years, representing clients in multimillion-dollar cases involving catastrophic injuries. Her clients respect her keen ability to efficiently manage cases and effectively try them when necessary.

Johnson is an active participant in the Texas Minority Counsel Program and is a member of the Transportation Lawyers Association and the Dallas chapter of Attorneys Serving the Community.

Johnson earned her B.A. degree from the University of Southern California (1990) and her J.D. degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law (1995).
