Burleson LLP, the largest law firm in the country devoted specifically to the oil and gas industry, announced today that attorney Pat Long Weaver has joined the firm’s Midland location. The addition further strengthens Burleson’s litigation capabilities and underscores its commitment to delivering the most seasoned, energy-specific legal services team the industry has to offer.

Weaver, who has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1995, is experienced in representing a wide range of oil and gas clients, from individuals to start-up enterprises to Fortune 500 companies. She focuses her practice on oil and gas litigation, condemnation, environmental law, complex business litigation, and major incident personal injury defense. Weaver has served both as first chair and as a team manager, taking a number of cases through trial and appeal, and has worked as a mediator for 15 years.

“Burleson has a strong litigation practice with experienced attorneys who have a reputation for bringing significant depth and diversity to the trials of energy-related lawsuits,” said Weaver. “Their deep backgrounds – combined with the firm’s broad geographic reach in all key producing regions of the United States – really sealed my decision to join. They bring a lot to the table for their clients, and I’m excited to be a part of their work.”

Rick Burleson, managing partner of Burleson, said, “Pat is a well-rounded, well-versed litigator who has a unique understanding of a wide range of issues impacting the oil and gas industry. Her distinct perspective – combined with her long track record of legal achievements – will be a great asset to our clients, and we couldn’t be more proud to have her on board.”

Alex Perez, managing partner of the firm’s Midland location, added, “Pat is a great attorney and a great addition to our firm. She has the depth of knowledge clients need in an oil and gas litigator, and her impressive background will certainly complement the expertise of the attorneys in our Midland location.”

Weaver is actively involved in a number of professional initiatives and currently holds leadership positions in a range of legal associations. She is the Council Vice Chair for the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Programs Vice President of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, and a former President of the Midland County Bar Association. She is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, as well as the College of the State Bar of Texas and Texas Bar Foundation.

Weaver routinely presents on issues related to litigation and has been published on several occasions. She earned a B.S. degree, magna cum laude, from Howard Payne University and a law degree, cum laude, from Baylor University School of Law.

In addition to volunteering for several groups throughout the community, Weaver is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Academy of Freedom at Howard Payne University and a member of the Advisory Council for the Board of Directors of the Buffalo Trial Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
