Burleson LLP announced today that David Bond, who has more than three decades of experience in commercial litigation, has joined the energy law firm as a Partner in its Houston office.

Bond has a broad background in counseling and representing oil and gas, natural gas, oilfield service, midstream, and geophysical seismic companies as well as producers and commercial entities in a wide range of matters, from complex class action lawsuits to routine business disputes. He is particularly skilled in issues concerning contracts, business torts, securities, antitrust laws, civil RICO, and lender liability litigation.

Rick Burleson, managing partner of Burleson LLP, said Bond’s addition underscores the firm’s commitment to providing oil and gas companies with the most experienced, energy-specific legal services team in the industry.

“David is an accomplished attorney who has a broad base of knowledge in virtually every issue and every phase of commercial litigation,” he explained. “That kind of experience – combined with the comprehensive capabilities of our entire litigation team – is tremendously beneficial to our clients and further reinforces our efforts to continuously strengthen key practice areas critical to the energy sector.”

Throughout his career, Bond has employed a wide scope of legal strategies to secure positive outcomes through arbitrations, trials, appeals, and government and internal investigations. His past work includes representing companies in cases involving cooperative buyouts, price fixing, misappropriated intellectual property, acquisitions, embezzlement, and foreclosures. He has also represented several corporate officers and directors of public companies in various SEC investigations.

Bond has been an adjunct professor of law at the University of Houston Texas Law Center, where he taught antitrust law. He co-authored a chapter on private remedies in the 2002 Annual Review of Antitrust Law Developments, and routinely speaks and writes articles on matters related to civil RICO, antitrust, commercial litigation, and Sarbanes-Oxley.

Bond earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the University of Alabama and his law degree from Columbia University in New York.
