Eversheds Sutherland is pleased to announce that Michael B. Bennett has joined the Litigation Practice Group as a partner in the Houston office expanding the commercial disputes practice with a focus on the energy sector. Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Mr. Bennett was a partner at Baker Botts.

Wasserman. “His stellar reputation in the Houston legal community, his diversified commercial litigation experience and his background in the energy sector will be greatly beneficial to our clients in Houston and elsewhere.”

Mr. Bennett focuses on complex business disputes, primarily counseling clients in the oil and gas, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries. He has significant experience working with companies on a broad range of disputes and investigations, including disputes under joint operating agreements, joint venture agreements, service and supply agreements, and foreign agency agreements. Mr. Bennett has also handled several cases involving investments by private equity firms and overseas investors in the oil and gas industry.

Mr. Bennett also has experience representing energy sector clients in internal and governmental agency investigations concerning alleged accounting fraud, embezzlement and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, ERISA violations and related civil litigation. He has defended energy, chemical and pharmaceutical companies in environmental mass tort and product liability cases.

In the past year, Eversheds Sutherland has broadened its Texas Energy and Infrastructure, Intellectual Property and Litigation practices by adding nine experienced lawyers in Austin and Houston combined, and electing two attorneys to partner.
