King & Spalding today announced that David Lang has joined the firm as a partner with the Corporate, Finance and Investments practice group in the Houston office. Lang, who previously served as global head of Baker McKenzie’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) practice in Houston, began his career at King & Spalding.

Lang’s practice focuses on energy infrastructure development, acquisition and disposition, with particular expertise in LNG projects. He has extensive experience working with both domestic and international clients developing, acquiring and selling energy and petrochemical infrastructure assets.

“David’s expertise fits squarely within our growth strategy and our client needs– he is an excellent corporate lawyer with specific expertise in LNG matters,” said Todd Holleman, head of the firm’s Corporate, Finance and Investments practice group. “There is great buzz about David in the market, so we are excited to add him to our team.”

“King & Spalding has a long history of counseling both domestic and global LNG clients. David’s reputation and experience domestically and globally make him the perfect fit for our Energy practice,” said Tracie Renfroe, office managing partner of King & Spalding’s Houston office and head of the firm’s Energy practice. “We expect to welcome a number of additional energy partners, as we continue to grow our talent to serve our clients.”

Lang obtained his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.

“K&S has a market-leading LNG practice with key related specialties—such as energy regulatory and construction—that make the firm the right place for my clients and practice,” said Lang. “There is also an ethos of collaboration among offices that make the firm an attractive platform.”
