Bob Thibault, a veteran lawyer who has represented a wide range of oil and gas companies involved in transactions and highly technical energy disputes, has joined the Haynes and Boone, LLP Energy Practice Group as Of Counsel in the Houston office.

“We are excited to have Bob joining our Energy team. With his 30 years’ experience, including two decades in house with one of the majors, and his expertise in the Gulf of Mexico and Rocky Mountain regions, Bob’s knowledge of the oil and gas industry will be a real asset to our oil and gas clients.” said Buddy Clark, head of the firm’s Energy Practice Group. “His robust experience representing clients in energy transaction and commercial litigation matters, including domestic and international oil and gas transactions, adds another layer of depth to the capabilities we offer our clients.”

In his dispute resolution practice, Thibault emphasizes the use of engineering and scientific experts within the relevant administrative and regulatory environments. He has litigated and advised on matters involving royalty payments, gas sales and purchases contracts, lease operations and termination, and gas processing plants and storage facilities.

He also represents clients in negotiating and drafting acquisition and operations related agreements for domestic and international oil and gas transactions, and has directly managed the acquisition and sale of participating equity interests in international concessions in the Republic of Guinea in West Africa, the Middle East (Jordan), Eastern Europe (Hungary) and Australia.

“Transitioning to Haynes and Boone seems like a natural step for me with the firm’s strong energy practice and wide range of talent,” said Thibault. “I look forward to joining the team and advising clients, both in the Gulf Coast and in the Rockies, in the full range of their business.”

Thibault’s previous experience includes serving as Texaco Inc.’s senior attorney, where he represented the company in transactional matters and before federal and state courts of all levels and before administrative agencies, and in complex litigation matters such as civil litigation, arbitration and mediation.
