Global law firm White & Case LLP has added new partner David Strickland to its Global Project Finance Practice and its Global Oil & Gas Industry Group in Houston. Strickland comes to White & Case from King & Spalding, where he advised owners of major petrochemical and refinery, LNG, oil & gas and power projects around the world.

“We’re thrilled to continue growing our Houston office with the arrival of David, who brings extensive experience handling complex oil & gas projects, with an exclusive focus on construction transactions,” said Philip Stopford, co-head of White & Case’s Global Oil & Gas Industry Group. “David has worked on large-scale construction projects, both domestically and globally. Adding him to our team will reinforce our global construction capabilities to support our clients’ objectives around the world.”

Strickland will support clients in all legal aspects of their construction projects, including helping them choose suitable project delivery systems.

Strickland has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating both engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts and specialized engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contracts. He has also helped clients with operation and maintenance agreements and program management and development agreements. In addition, Strickland has experience in aiding clients in resolving, and when possible avoiding, construction-related disputes.

“David is a true EPC specialist” said Jason Webber, co-head of White & Case’s Global Oil & Gas Industry Group. “The expertise he brings to our Houston office creates massive synergies with both our broader global and Houston-based oil & gas work and our top-ranked Global Construction Practice.”

Strickland joins a growing roster of partners in White & Case’s new Houston office, including new Firm partners Jay Cuclis, Christopher Richardson, Charlie Ofner, Steven Otillar and Steven Tredennick, plus relocated partner Saul Daniel.
