Jones Walker is pleased to announce that Cortlan H. Maddux and Lauren J. Harrison have joined the firm’s Houston office. Both Mr. Maddux and Ms. Harrison will practice in the Business and Commercial Litigation Practice Group, and both were elected to partnership effective January 1, 2012.

Mr. Maddux represents a broad range of clients, focusing his practice on general commercial and energy litigation, as well as tort, maritime, and product liability litigation. He has extensive experience in both on-shore and off-shore oil and gas operations, as well as personal injury and commercial disputes.

Cortlan Maddux previously practiced at the Houston firm of Stevenson & Murray, P.C. and Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. He received his juris doctor degree, cum laude, from Baylor University Law School and earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Baylor University. Following law school, he served as a briefing attorney for the Honorable Harriet O’Neill and the Honorable Kem Thompson Frost on the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston.

Ms. Harrison’s practice includes antitrust, general commercial litigation, and intellectual property. She represents clients in the areas of oil and gas, alternative energy, software development, entertainment, and diverse manufacturing industries. Ms. Harrison practiced previously at the law firms of Conner & Winters LLP and Vinson & Elkins LLP.

Lauren Harrison earned her juris doctor degree from Cornell University Law School, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, and her bachelor of arts degree from Dartmouth College, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Thomas S. Zilly in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, and to the late Honorable Eugene A. Wright in the U.S. Court of Appeal, Ninth District.
