Bracewell & Giuliani LLP announced that Carey R. Troell has joined the firm’s San Antonio office as a partner in the public finance practice. Troell focuses on tax-exempt financings and has clients in all aspects of public finance transactions including state and local government finance matters, including traditional municipal finance, tax increment finance, and public improvement districts.

“The public finance team is very excited to have Carey join us,” said Ben A. Brooks, co-head of the public finance practice. “Having him as part of our San Antonio office allows us the opportunity to be readily accessible to public entities in the Bexar County area and South Texas, as we continue to further develop our public finance practice.”

Troell has experience serving as bond counsel for cities, counties, state agencies, and special districts, including local government corporations. In addition to bond counsel engagements, he serves as underwriters counsel to national and regional investment banking firms in bond transactions. Troell also serves as general counsel to non-profit corporations, local government corporations and certain special districts.

Previously with Fullbright & Jaworski, L.L.P., Troell is admitted to practice in Texas. He received his undergraduate degree from University of Texas in Austin in Accounting, and earned his law degree from the South Texas College of Law. He was formerly served as Assistant Attorney General in the Public Finance Division of the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Texas.
