Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Ted D. Meyer has joined the Firm as a Partner in the Labor & Employment group in the Houston office. Ted, a seasoned labor and employment attorney with more than two decades of experience, represents large and small employers in litigation, administrative proceedings, and in defense of large class and collective actions. He also provides counsel on disputes in connection with departing employees, reductions in force, leadership training, and employee relationships. Ted joins Blank Rome from Ogletree Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C.

“We are thrilled that Ted is joining the Firm,” said Alan J. Hoffman, Blank Rome’s Chairman and Managing Partner. “Ted has established himself as a mentor and trusted adviser within the legal community and is recognized as a highly effective and efficient litigator. He will be an excellent addition to our labor and employment team and our Houston office.”

Ted advises clients spanning several industries, including homebuilding, mortgage and title, technology, financial, energy, and oil and gas. He has handled cases across the country, including litigation against the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

“We’re excited to welcome Ted to Blank Rome,” said Brooke T. Iley, Co-Chair of the Firm’s Labor & Employment group. “It goes without saying that the energy and oil and gas industries are prominent in Texas and having Ted’s background and experience in these specialized sectors at the local, state, and federal levels will continue to strengthen our team.”

“The decision to join Blank Rome was an easy one,” said Ted. “I was attracted to the Firm’s full range of practices, including its notable capabilities in corporate, real estate, and intellectual property law. The Firm’s comprehensive platform will enable me to provide a broader range of services to my clients. Additionally, I have known and worked with Barry Abrams, Bob Scott, Susan Bickley, and other members of Blank Rome’s Houston office for many years, and look forward to working closely with them now as colleagues.”

As a recognized leader in the legal community, Ted’s experience includes co-founding and serving as managing partner of a Texas law firm. He has also held roles as a managing partner and practice coordinator for two other law firms, both regional and global in nature.

Ted is Board Certified in Labor Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and he has maintained this certification since 1997. He has been listed on Best Lawyers every year since 2006, Chambers every year since 2004, and Texas Super Lawyers every year since 2003.

Ted earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center and his B.B.A. from the University of Houston.
