Barnes & Thornburg LLP announced today that John Willding has joined the firm’s Dallas office as a partner in the Corporate Department. Previously, Willding was a partner at Strasburger & Price LLP.

Willding joins Barnes & Thornburg having extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions and other significant transactions. His experience includes serving as lead corporate counsel in transformative platform acquisitions in the fields of healthcare, education, financial services, aerospace, oil and gas, and produce. Additionally, Willding often serves as outside general counsel to middle-market companies and family offices.

Willding is the ninth attorney to join Barnes & Thornburg’s Dallas office since it opened under Mark Bayer’s leadership in June 2015.

Prior to entering private practice, Willding served with distinction in the United States Army and Air Force Reserves working on cybersecurity and other security matters. He was also selected for a prestigious federal judicial clerkship.

Willding is actively involved in his community, serving on advisory boards for the Communities Foundation of Texas, the S.M. Wright Foundation, Financial Executives International and the Harvard Club of Dallas. He is also a member of the 2016 Class of Leadership Dallas.

Willding holds degrees from Southern Methodist University, Harvard University and Rutgers University, where he earned his J.D. He is a member of the Dallas Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas.
