BakerHostetler is proud to announce that Sashe D. Dimitroff has joined the firm, resident in the Houston office, as a member of the Litigation Group and the Energy and Shale team. He comes to BakerHostetler from Haynes and Boone. Dimitroff will join more than 360 trial lawyers in the firm’s expanding Litigation Group.

Dimitroff focuses his practice on international arbitration, complex business and energy litigation, and alternative dispute resolution. He represents a wide range of national and international businesses and will devote a significant amount of his practice to representing clients in the energy and oilfield service industries. He has also represented airlines, banks, manufacturing, and medical device companies.

Dimitroff is an accomplished U.S. and international commercial litigator who has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in courts and arbitral tribunals around the world. He has represented Fortune 100 companies in multi-plaintiff lawsuits alleging up to $300 million in damages. He routinely handles multi-jurisdictional matters and works closely with clients to develop creative and strategic approaches to meet business goals, including protecting assets, locating hidden assets in foreign jurisdictions, and creating preventive measures to avoid future claims.

“Sashe brings substantial international experience to BakerHostetler’s Litigation and Energy practices,” said W. Ray Whitman, Chair of BakerHostetler’s national Litigation Group. “His global experience will be a valuable asset in continuing to address our clients’ most complex business disputes.”

“I’m pleased Sashe has joined the Houston office. His broad national and international experience adds to the entire firm’s knowledge base,” said Lisa H. Pennington, Managing Partner of the firm’s Houston office.

“It is an exciting time to join BakerHostetler and I’m glad to be a part of the firm’s highly regarded and growing Litigation practice. I’m thrilled to be able to join some of the most sought after trial attorneys in the country,” said Dimitroff.

Dimitroff’s appointment follows a number of key additions to the firm’s Litigation Group and Energy and Shale team across the country. Recent additions in Philadelphia include antitrust and trial attorney Carl W. Hittinger from DLA Piper, who assumed a leadership role to build a multidisciplinary litigation practice in BakerHostetler’s Philadelphia office, and Jeffry W. Duffy, a former U.S. Diplomat and commercial and civil litigator. Other recent additions to the firm’s litigation and international energy capabilities, all from Norton Rose Fulbright, include Poe Leggette and team in Denver, as well as Laura McMahon in Houston.

Dimitroff is an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law School, where he teaches International Risk Management in Oilfield Services. His international reputation earned him the opportunity to lecture to energy lawyers and executives at Qatar University College of Law in 2012 and 2014. He is a frequent speaker on international arbitration, litigation, and social media topics to audiences in the United States, Moscow, London, Kazakhstan, and Mexico.

Dimitroff received his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, graduating magna cum laude, in 1992. He also received his M.B.A. in 1992, graduating with full honors from the University of Houston. He earned his B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985.
