Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that energy attorney Charlie Ofner has joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner.

Mr. Ofner previously served as senior counsel at Houston-based Oasis Petroleum Inc., a publicly-traded E&P company, where he was integral in the legal functions of multiple company divisions, including operations, land, midstream, marketing, finance and accounting. He was also instrumental in the company’s acquisitions and divestitures, including more than $1.5 billion in asset purchases and more than $300 million in asset sales. Before joining Oasis, he was an associate at Houston’s Vinson & Elkins LLP, where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions and joint venture transactions in the energy industry.

“Charlie’s expertise in many types of oil and gas and other energy transactions will help us meet the varying demands of our clients,” said Bob Jewell, Managing Partner. “His in-house experience also gives him a perspective that our energy clients will find valuable during this important time for the industry.”

Mr. Ofner earned a bachelor of arts, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 2004 before completing his law degree at The University of Texas School of Law in 2007. While in law school, he served as staff editor for the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas and Energy Law and the Texas Review of Sports and Entertainment Law.

“I know Andrews Kurth is a great law firm, and I look forward to working with the firm’s many fine attorneys again,” says Mr. Ofner, who was a summer associate with the Firm in 2005 and 2006. “With its superb reputation across a wide array of industries, both nationally and internationally, this will be an exciting place to help grow the firm’s energy practice and to expand my practice.”
