The business and entertainment law firm Shackelford, Melton & McKinley, LLP, announces the addition of corporate attorney James M. Addams in the firm’s Dallas office.

Mr. Addams’ practice focuses on counseling clients on a broad range of significant legal matters, including the acquisition and disposition of businesses and major assets, creation of joint ventures and strategic alliances, purchase and sale agreements involving products and equipment, distribution and supply agreements, operating leases, and antitrust issues. He also assists clients with business management issues, including the creation and execution of strategic and tactical business plans.

Mr. Addams provides more than 25 years of general management experience in the construction materials industry, most recently serving as the Chief Operating Officer for Holcim (US) Inc., the second-largest cement producer in the United States. He has negotiated business acquisitions with values ranging from $3 million to more than $200 million. He also is skilled in dispute resolution and crafting joint venture and similar domestic and international agreements.

Mr. Addams earned his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1977, after securing his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, in 1973 from the University of Maryland.
