Austin saw two big legal job changes last month:

The corporate and securities practice at Jackson Walker has recruited associate attorney Nicole Brennig to the firm’s Austin office. Ms. Brennig comes to Jackson Walker from Proskauer Rose, LLP.

Gardere Wynne & Sewell LLP has announced the recruitment of former Department of Energy counsel Erika Benson to the firm’s government affairs practice.  Ms. Benson joins the firm as a partner.

August proved to be another busy month for the Houston legal jobs market–here are some of the highlights:

Baker Hostetler recruited Dennis Duffy, former chair of the labor and employment practice at Baker Botts, LLP.  Mr. Duffy joins the firm as a partner.

The Houston office of Jones Day announced the legal recruitment of William Prescott Mills Schwind as a partner in the firm’s energy practice.  Mr. Schwind was previously a partner in the Houston office of Thompson & Knight, LLP.

Daniel Nossa has been recruited as a partner to the energy practice and derivatives group at Jackson Walker in Houston.

King & Spalding continued the expansion of the firm’s Houston office this month with the hiring of Erika Serran Toussaint as a partner in the firm’s global disputes practice. Ms. Serran Toussaint joins the firm as a counsel.

The Dallas legal jobs market has been on a steady growth path.  Here are some of last month’s major moves:

Cox Smith Matthews, Inc. recruited two new partners–attorneys Eduardo Espinosa and Michael Napoli joined the firm as shareholders in the corporate and litigation practices of the firm’s Dallas office.  Both attorneys were previously with K&L Gates.

The business litigation and labor and employment practices of Wilson Elser in Dallas welcomed award winning investigative journalist, Valeri Williams to the firm.

Jeff Ansley, formerly of Curran Tomoko Tarski LLP, has been recruited to Bell Nually & Martin LLP in Dallas. Mr. Ansley joins the firm’s litigation and white collar defense practice as a partner.

Adam Dougherty has been recruited to Winstead, PC from Baker & McKenzie, LLP. Mr. Dougherty joins the firm’s labor, employment and immigration practice as a partner.

Littler Mendelson, P.C. announced the recruitment of Jarrett Andrews to the firm’s Dallas office. Mr. Andrews, formerly managing counsel for Energy Future Holdings Corp, joins the firm’s labor and employment practice as a partner.

John Dickey has been recruited to the Dallas office of Dykema as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice.  Mr. Dickey joins from Greenberg Traurig, LLP where he was a shareholder and the practice group leader of Greenberg Traurig’s corporate and securities practice.

Haynes and Boone, LLP won a significant appellate victory yesterday for the firm’s client, ARGO Data Resource Corporation. The Dallas Court of Appeals reversed a judgment in a shareholder oppression case and rendered a take-nothing judgment in favor of ARGO.
